Last Saturday (3/29) was my 22nd birthday. I had so much fun! I went to Dave & Buster’s with family and friends. We ate, played games, and I was glad that I had so many people come out to support me.
I am grateful to have made it to 22 years old. I’m so blessed and appreciative of all the good things in my life. There was my birthday, in three weeks (4/26), I’ll be graduating from college, on May 30th, I’ll be celebrating one year of marriage and in August, I will be starting graduate school aiming to get my MSW.
As I was celebrating with those I loved most, I couldn’t help but feel so much love in return. I was surrounded by my husband, my mother, siblings, friends and it was truly one of the happiest moments of my life.
Even though I am only 22, I feel as though it’s a major milestone because most African-American young women ljke myself become caught up, and I thank God that it didn’t happen to me.
I am thankful for parents who kept my head on straight, who made sure that I always got my school work done, who made sure that I was always in the church. I’m thankful that they cared enough. I’ll thankful for God continously keeping and protecting me. I truly don’t know where I would be without Him.
